xenamorph | Morph #1: The Awakening [action]

[Action/The Barracks]

[Rachel awakens to find herself in a large building, wearing a rather hideous sundress and nothing else. More distressingly, she discovers that she has wings. Eagle wings. For a moment, she's afraid she's been trapped partway in morph, but a moment of experimentation shows that she's still able to at least begin morphing.

And then after another moment, she remembers that she's dead. Is this heaven? I mean, wings and a white dress seems like heaven, but some grungy building sure doesn't. Where is she? What the heck is going on? She can't morph in this dress, and she can't walk around as a human with eagle wings- what if a Controller sees her?

So she casts a look around to make sure nobody's nearby, and then she shucks off the dress and slowly begins morphing into the shape of a bald eagle. It's a long, slow process, and she's still woozy and disoriented. She just hopes she isn't interrupted.]

[Action/The Plaza and the Clothing Store.]

[An eagle with a second set of wings tucked behind the first is soaring around the plaza, looking through windows, a white New Feather dress clutched in her claws. As soon as she locates the clothing store, she'll fly inside and begin browsing. Just a bird out shopping. Nothing to see here.]

[Action/Town]

[Once she's ~~stolen~~ obtained some new clothing and morphed into a human again, a strange girl will be walking around town, staring at everything with a mixture of confusion and dismay. Heaven, so far, sucks. A lot. Especially since everything seems to be half-pilfered from the middle ages, and half the people walking around are weird. It's almost like somebody crossed a ren faire and one of those nerd conventions. She could swear she saw a guy dressed like Spock running around.]

[ Tenten's not going to wrestle her arm in there now. She knows how dangerous bird claws are. She's just going to wait patiently, while trying to peak through fabric folds to see what's going on. ]

[She wastes no time in beginning the next morph. If Tenten keeps watching, she'll have time to see a flash of brown fur, as moments later a grizzly bear bursts out of a shelving unit far too small and flimsy to contain it.

And let out a rather significant roar.]

[ She sees the flash of brown fur and then...

it's a grizzly bear. Tenten looks on, partly horrified but mostly confused. ]

W-what just happened....? [ Tenten detaches a large scroll from her back and holds it in a defensive position as she backs away. She starts to unravel a piece of it, hoping it won't be swatted away before she can summon something.

ooc: Tenten is a weapons expert, so, whatever you want her to summon is up to you. I don't wanna suddenly put a damper in this thread because she summons, like a sword or something so if you want a staff or a war fan or something that's cool too o/ Of note, she doesn't have firearms, so, your bear won't end up as a panel on the far-side. ]

[Rachel's rampage almost instantly halts when the person who had tried to grab her instantly backs away, terrified.

For starters, why was she messing with a piece of paper instead of a Dracon Beam? For another thing, why did she suddenly sound terrified?

... Oh, man. She settles back down to the floor and tries to look nonthreatening. Of course, she's a grizzly bear, so she meets with limited success.

Instead she tries to ask, in thought-speak as gentle as she can manage,]

-Where is this?-

[OOC: Don't worry about injuries. She can heal from any wound by demorphing, so any weapon that isn't going to kill her or knock her unconscious is cool.]

[ Is the bear talking? Yep. It's talking. Through her mind even. The kunai she suddenly summons drops to the floor, as a peace gesture and a cover up that she's almost surpassing the "bowel suppression" threshold. Yikes.

She isn't sure if she should think these words or say them. ]

You're in Luceti. It's either an accident, or the Malnosso brought you here on purpose. They say it's the second one but several people question it. If you have - or had, if you're the same hawk that I saw earlier - that white dress, that means you're a newcomer. This place is very confusing, and, I was trying to see if you were well adjusted here. [ Beat. ] The answer is probably no, given the past half a minute, but, regardless... [ Her voice trails off, unsure how to end the sentence. ]

[The response was almost instinctive. There was a difference. It was almost as if she felt obligated to call her on it because Tobias wasn't here to do it.]

Huh. Okay. Fine, eagle. [ She'll agree, as she shamelessly mouths off to the bear. ] It's no problem at all. I can understand being startled and unsure of who to trust. It was a reasonable response. Luckily, I had several colleagues who were able to immediately bring me up to speed on stuff. [ beat. ] That and I woke up trapped in the grocery store wall, smuggled between raw turkeys, but I think that was a blessing in disguise now, since I would have probably gone off the deep end until Shikamaru found me.

-Alright, well, I'd love to chat about just what the heck is going on, but first, I'd like to demorph. And to do that, I need clothing. I always hated those public nudity dreams when I was a kid.-

And with that, the bear turns and plucks a leotard from among the clothing she just knocked over, then casually plods off toward the changing room.

[ Her scrolls could teleport items, and it sounds like it could be useful for this girl! The depths of the lechery in Luceti are.... well, actually they're quite shallow but they shouldn't be encountered nevertheless!

Tenten's lost control of her life. ]

[A few moments later, a blonde teenager returns from the changing room, wearing the leotard the bear was just carrying.]

"Not necessary, thanks. I can morph clothing, as long as it's skintight. The dress was just too bulky for me to morph."

[And, with zero preamble, she's just gonna go ahead and pluck a pair of jeans out of the wreckage of shelves and pull them on.

That's probably not awkward at all.]

Ah, all right. I guess that's convenient, so you don't end up naked after you transform back. Do you just transform into a hawk and a bear? [ She pauses. ] Or do you transform into other animals, too?

[ She doesn't think it's awkward. She has teammates that wear tight, form fitting spandex.

ooc: Permission for Tenten to refer to her Eagle form as a hawk constantly? Like, as a running gag of sorts? If it's cool with you, let me know and I'll stop! ]

[The pants are quickly followed by a shirt, and then after a moment of browsing and an appreciative grin, a leather jacket. She'd have killed to afford a jacket like this back home.]

"Oh. Uh... lots of animals."

[She decides not to mention that it also works on humans, because that could unsettle some people.

That's so cool! Luceti's wildlife isn't filled with much variety, but, you seem to have a good selection already.

Do you think you could transform into pokémon? [ She's going to not realize that Rachel probably doesn't know what it means.... ]

[Oh, she knows what they are. She's from the year 2000. She has experienced Pokemania.

She, however, is one of the kids who never learned to pronounce Pokemon because she didn't care.]

"Like the little, uh. Yellow electric thing that all the ge- uh, kids were into?"

Yeah! That! One of my floormates has one of those Pikachu things. He named it Linda. I know a couple of other people have a pokémon too, but that's because their native worlds have pokémon.

I don't think so? [ She shrugs. ] You seem reasonable enough, like you have a good head on your shoulders.

"I just woke up in some weird Ren Faire type village in the middle of nowhere, with wings on my back, talking to a girl whose first response to me turning into a bear was 'Can you turn into pokamons too?' To say nothing of what was going on in my life before I got here.

I'm just saying, I've been wondering if I'm insane for a while now."

Well, I'll be honest. Transforming into animals doesn't really shock you when you see a giant sharkman that tries to drown you. It's just lower end on the "what rattles Tenten" scale.

With that said, Luceti is really weird. It brings in people from random worlds and then forces you together, hence the pokémon comment because I was wondering what world you were you from. You're trapped here, and, sometimes, the Malnosso, who are responsible for us being here, do some really freaky things to us. One time I believed I was a kangaroo and angrily demanded to be petted, another time I was King Arthur and some middle aged man was my excalibur. This place is strange, and, no amount of questioning if you're insane changes the circumstances, but it's always helpful to note everyone around you is crazy too.

Glad to hear it! Now then, there should be a guide in your journal that explains where the place is. If you want something to eat as you mourn what your life has become, there's a pretty good restaurant here, or, if you want something more Chinese, I can cook some at my place. [ Living in a Japanese inspired place when you're a Chinese themed character seriously sucks. ]

All right! Do you have a place to stay or anything? Generally, house these things work, is that you find an empty house or apartment and then just kinda claim it as your own. Just put something there and then it's kinda yours to do what you please with it.

[ I do not know if you've ever played Animal Crossing but right now I am imagining Tenten as Tom Nook and Rachel as the most unenthusiastic villager ever that just really wants to leave and the mental image is slaying me. ]
